Los Jóvenes y la Unión Europea: Identidad y Política en Cataluña

Abstract
Resumen: En una Europa basada en la idea de afiliación de iguales, en que los esfuerzos institucionales intentan crear una identidad Europea compartida en una Europa constituida por variadas regiones, es importante conocer con mayor precisión las actitudes de los jóvenes para poder obtener pistas sobre el futuro de la Unión Europea de cara al objetivo de una progresiva cohesión. En el artículo, se explican los resultados del análisis de las opiniones de 1709 estudiantes de 15 y 16 años, distribuidos en 30 centros educativos catalanes, en el que se les pregunta sobre su identificación (o falta de) con Europa e indirectamente su interés en pertenecer o no dentro de la estructura política supranacional. El artículo tiene en cuenta múltiples variables socio-demográficas que son significantes en la literatura pertinente de cara a la identificación de la población adulta respecto a la Unión Europea y su posible continuidad. Al mismo tiempo, el estudio tiene en consideración, y explica brevemente, las particularidades de la situación política catalana acontecida en 2014 en el momento en el que el cuestionario fue implementado en las escuelas. Cataluña es un contexto de estudio interesante en primer lugar, porque actualmente vive inmerso en un proceso de transformación política y, en segundo lugar, porque ha sido territorio de recepción de inmigración debido a las características de su dinamismo económico. La discusión se centra en comparar los resultados con otros estudios europeos y plantear nuevas líneas de indagación en futuras investigaciones.
