Focus and Scope

The Journal of Deliberative Mechanisms in Science (DEMESCI) is an transdisciplinary journal that publishes articles about the relationship between science and the rest of society. Specifically, the journal focuses on mechanisms and methodologies that allow the public to participate in scientific decision-making. Relevant areas of research include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Analysis of public engagement with science.

- Mixed advisory committees and other collaborations between members and non-members of the scientific community.

- Research methodologies that facilitate the public participation in science and environmental decision-making.

- Co-production of science and society.

- Classifications and typologies of public engagement mechanisms.

- Ethical dimensions of public participation in science.

- Epistemological consequences of engagement mechanisms with science.

All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by two anonymous referees.
